Horn Sled European Championships

At the beginning of February 2008 Olang will play host to the Horn Sled European Championships. This relatively new sport is rapidly growing in popularity in the entire Alpine region. “Horn sleds” are traditional sleighs with horn runners, which were once used by peasants to transport hay and wood. Thanks to the so-called “horn sled races” the ancient peasant sleighs are now being revived. The typical horn sleighs, which could once be found on every farm, are modified and skilfully “tuned” for the races and eventually have only very little in common with the ancient peasant sleighs.
