The first building was constructed in the 12th century, the so called small “old” castle. It was expanded in the 15th century by the addition of two wings and acquired Baroque adaptations in 1732: Experience the life of former times – it is one of few castles which is still completely furnished. The rich furniture of the interior gives the visitor an authentic picture of a glamorous baroque residence.

Paul Troger, Austrian Baroque painter, was born on 30th October 1698 the son of a sexton and dressmaker in Welsberg. His “Troger-blue” is still mesmerizing. The tour starts at his birthplace and goes on to the parish church where three of his masterpieces adorn the altar. You then stop at some other beautiful places and lanes of Welsberg.
