Kronplatz - Plan de Corones
Cycle path of the Pustertal valley
Pustertal Cycle Path
Starting point of the Pustertal Cycle Path: Mühlbach, with its historical fort, first mentioned in 1269. Sonnenburg Castle, once a convent for noble women, with its medieval frescoes in the minster is definitely worth a visit. There is a special highlight for foodies: a herbal and cheese walk. First you visit the mountain pine oil distillery in Issing near Pfalzen followed by a walk along the herbal path to the dairy farm Gatscher, where the cheese production can be watched. You certainly take your bike with you!

Path description:
The Pustertaler bicycle lane starts in Mühlbach (763 m) and goes past the villages of Niedervintl, Obervintl, Kiens, Ehrenburg and St. Lorenzen all the way to Bruneck (835 m). This passage is very flat and 25.5 km long and therefore suitable for beginners and families. The cycle lane continues to Innichen (1,174 m) passing Percha, Nieder- Mitter- and Oberolang, Ried, Niederdorf and Toblach (1,241 m). This second passage is also very flat, 33.5 km long and as such suitable for everyone. The third passage goes from Innichen via Vierschach to Winnebach (1,113 m) where you pass the Austrian-Italian boarder. Ride along the Drau river all the way to Lienz (about 740 m). This last passage is 44 km long, very simple, because it goes downwards and therefore suitable for families. To get back to the starting point we recommend to take the train. Should you consider the ride to be too long, you may take the train at an earlier point.
