The commune of St. Lorenzen - together with the villages of Sonnenburg (including Fassing, Lothen and Kniepass), Stefansdorf, Maria Saalen, Montal, Runggen, Onach, Ellen, St. Martin, Moos and Pflaurenz - is situated more or less in the middle of the westerly part of the Pustertal. A 3 km wide basin with a spectacular mountain view surrounds St. Lorenzen. The gigantic mountain chain Rieserfernergruppe dominates the view in the north while the Gadertal leads you to the Dolomites in the south.
