At the end of September 2008
At the end of September more than 200 animals return from the mountain pastures of Marebbe/Enneberg back down to the valley to their home farms. The animals are adorned with bells, wreaths and fresh flowers and everybody in the village gathers to celebrate and watch the return of the cattle. The dairymaids hand out sweet pastries called “Canifli” and in the village centre you can enjoy food and drinks as well as folk music to dance to.
The exact date of this event depends on the weather conditions and since it is an authentic occasion of rural life it cannot be planned in advance.

The festival begins at the music pavilion at 10 am. From 11 am there will be live music, at about 2 pm the cattle will be driven through the village. In the evening there will be the “Sennerball” (ball of the Alpine herders and dairymen).
A generous choice of dishes and local specialities accompanied by music and folk events with popular dance make this event a unique experience for those who take part.

A special highlight during your stay in the Holiday Region Kronplatz in autumn is the “Almabtrieb” which takes place on the 14th October in Rasun at the Redensberg hamlet. The cattle are decorated and return from the alpine pastures back to their stables in the village for the winter. This ancient tradition makes part of the local culture and takes place each year with a procession and a supporting programme with specialties from the region, folk dance and local music. An unforgettable event you shouldn’t miss.
