Herrnsteig trail: mountain bikers only!

From mid-July on, the Herrnsteig trail will be open exclusively to mountain bikers. The brand new freeride trail between Reischach and Mount Kronplatz was built in only a few months' time thanks to the efficient collaboration between Kronplatz Seilbahn AG, the local forestry authorities, the South Tyrol Alpine Club and Bruneck Tourist Board.

Open to downhill-tested riders only, it features a number of steep turns, jumps, wooden bridges and plenty more break-neck stunts. This relatively new discipline of mountain biking is called freeride and enhances the concentration and coordination of riders as well as their fine motor skills and ability to respond.

In order to avoid accidents and conflicts, the trail will be completely closed to pedestrians from mid-July on. Hikers may use the South Tyrol Alpine Club's trail between Reischach and Kronplatz as an alternative. For hikes up or down Mount Kronplatz, pedestrians are advised to strictly use that trail only!
