Ski Resort Speikboden

The Speikboden is a famous location in winter and in summer time. During the summer there are lots of hiking and mountain biking possibilities, in the winter, of course, the focus is on skiing and snowboarding. Because of guaranteed snow and perfectly groomed slopes the Speikboden ski area attracts every winter snow -seekers from everywhere. On the 38 km (24 miles) of ski slopes, there is something for everybody. Seven modern lifts provide for a quick ascent before you can head down the valley at your own speed – leisurely or lightning fast. On the Easy Line and the Medium Line of the 700m long Fun Park, snowboarders and freestylers will also find everything that their adrenaline-charged hearts desire. The specialized children's ski school with 40 teachers care for ski and snowboard beginners and advanced athletes.

food and fun

Speikboden is also well-known for its excellent restaurants and ski huts. There are a total of six restaurants on the mountain including the Sonklarhütte, which was voted 'Most Beautiful Ski Hut of the Year' in 2014 – as well as three traditional huts and three top après ski bars.

The resort is also home to the longest toboggan run in South Tyrol, while hikers and nature lovers can enjoy fabulous 360° views from 2400m altitude and marvel at 150 mountain peaks in the area. Speikboden is always worth a visit, not least thanks to its unique glass igloo at 2000m offering stylish après ski at its best. Other popular bars are Paulas Schirmpub and the Ahris Bar.

Mountain Igloo

For once, sleeping like the Inuit. On the Speikboden not only ski dreams come true – a night in an igloo becomes possible too. And because holidays in the Tauferer Ahrntal are a culinary highlight, the overnight stay is topped with a typical cuisine. After dinner, when it is time to crawl into the sleeping bags, everyone will realize that sleeping in an igloo is not that cold after all.

The igloos are not far from the mountain station of the Speikboden-lift facilities at an altitude of 2000 meters. This is where cold dreams heat up and where adventures are no longer a dream, but reality.
