Hiking in the Dolomites
Trekking holidays in the Pustertal mountains “A symphony of meadows, wood and gentle mountain ranges in front of the fortissimo and the clear fanfares sound of rejoicing peaks and ridges of the
Dolomites on one side and of the
Zillertaler Alps on the other.” For those who don’t know the
Pustertal this would be a proper description. In the course of their weekly hiking tours the tourism boards of our holiday region would like to invite you to feel out this wild and yet cultivated land.

Sas de Pütia-Peitlerkofel mountain round tour
Path description: Leave at the car park of the Passo delle Erbe-Würzjoch mountain pass and walk across the Kompatsch meadows to the west side of the Sass Pütia mountain. Walk up to the Peitlerscharte (mountain gorge - 2,363 m). After a short but steep descend you continue crossing the Peitler meadows pacing up and down to reach the Gömajoch (2,106 m). Return back to the north side of the Sass Pütia and to the starting point crossing forests and meadows. The tour offers a wonderful view to the wild landscape. Colourful mountain pastures, grazing cows and cooling streams can be found along the way. You shouldn’t miss the round tour around the Sass Pütia mountain which is definitely scenically worthwhile.

Bel Colle-Schönbichl
Bel Colle-Schönbichl
The Bel Colle-Schönbichl mountain offers a spectacular view to the northern Dolomites and the glaciated summit of the Zillertaler Alps. The summit can easily be reached starting in Montassilone-Tesselberg.
Path description: Follow the broad path leaving at the car park opposite the mountain inn. Walk past some pastures towards the forest. Follow the path up to the Tesselberger Alp with the Tesselberger stream on your left. The forest path is rather steep. After about an hour you will have reached the Tesselberger Alp and from there walk on to the summit for another hour. Continue a few meters on a narrow path. There the path goes to the right and continues in serpentines. The path becomes more and more steep. You will reach the small summit after a total hike of 2 1/4 hours.
The view to the northern Braies-Pragser and Sesto-Sextener Dolomites is as fascinating as the one to the Durreck mountain group and the glaciers round the Zillertaler Alps.
Starting point: Montassilone-Tesselberg, car park
Marking: No.7
Walking time: 2 1/4 hours up, 1 3/4 hours down

1st day:
Starting point: Start in San Vigilio di Marebbe-St. Vigil in Enneberg, at the hotel Paraccia, and follow the marking no. 19. After about 1.5 hours you reach a branch-off. Follow the marking no. 12 to the summit Piz da Peres while enjoying the wonderful view. After reaching the summit continue your hike towards the Fojedöra Lake crossing colourful mountain pastures. Close by there is a mountain hut offering regional food and drinks (especially the homemade cheese is worth a try). From Fojedöra follow the marking no. 24 to Ciastlins and then walk towards the Sennes Scharte (mountain gorge). Walk down to the refuge where you spend the first night.
For your overnight stay there are three refuges to choose from: Munt de Sennes Hut (tel. +39 0474 501311) - Sennes Hut (tel. +39 0474 501092) - Fodara Vedla Hut (tel. +39 0474 501093).

The next day continue towards the summit Sass dla Para. The tour is not very difficult and from the summit you have a great view to the Tofana summit and the Ampezzaner Dolomites. Walk back to Pederü via Fodara Vedla and then up to the Small Fanes Alp. For your second overnight stay there are two refuges to choose from: the Fanes Hut (tel. +39 0474 501097) and the Lavarella Hut (tel. +39 0474 501079).

Col Bechei
3rd day:
On the last day you leave the Small Fanes Alp to walk to the Limo Joch (col) and the Limo Lake. Pass the lake and you will find a path which branches off to the left and leads to the Col Bechei (white-red marking).
This impressive panorama mountain (2,794 m) is also not difficult to reach and the view is definitely worthwhile.
Walk back to the Limo Lake on the same path. Then walk to the Big Fanes Alp and from there continue to Capanna Alpina passing Col de Locia (marking no. 11).
This is where your three-day-tour ends. Take the public bus back to San Vigilio-St. Vigil.
