in Brunico
Brunico-Bruneck lies at a crossroads: where the Val Pusteria-Pustertal valley bike path meets that of the Valle Aurina-Ahrntal. So it is a great starting point for exploring the Val Pusteria bike path in two stages – one downstream (direction Rio Pusteria-Mühlbach) and one upstream – as well as for following the course of the Drava-Drau over the international border as far as Lienz, Austria. It is possible to take the bike-train back to Brunico.
The bike path into the Valli di Tures and Aurina-Tauferer Ahrntal offers an excursion to Tures-Taufers Castle which is definitely worth seeing, as well as the longer and more demanding round trip as far as Casere-Kasern and into the Predoi-Prettau exhibition mine.
In S. Lorenzo-St. Lorenzen, a round-trip tour begins that is suitable for the entire family. It passes by the Castel Badia-Sonnenburg and on past Campolino-Lothen to Chienes-Kiens and Casteldarne-Ehrenburg, and from there via Ronchi-Runggen back to S. Lorenzo. Bicycle rentals and service stations offer their services at the railway station and on via Europa-Europastraße in Brunico, but also in Riscone-Reischach, S. Lorenzo, and Gais.
