NEW: ACCESS RESTRICTED – BOOKINGS REQUIRED FOR THE SHUTTLE SERVICE
The road towards the Pragser Tal valley is only open to cars while there is space left in the valley car parks. There are no restrictions to visiting the Pragser Wildsee lake on foot or by bicycle. This year, the shuttle service to the Pragser Wildsee lake (routes 439 and 442) requires advance online booking and prepayment. Once the shuttle is fully booked, you can no longer access the lake by bus.

We recommend that you visit the Pragser Wildsee lake before 9 am or after 3 pm.

By Foot

  • From train station Niederdorf/ Villa bassa: approx. 3hrs - trail No. 1
  • From train station Welsberg/ Monguelfo: approx. 3hrs - trail No. 2A to Schmieden/ Ferrara, then trail No. 1
  • From Schmieden/ Ferrara: approx. 1, 5 hrs - trail No. 1

ARRIVING BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

BUS + TRAIN + BUS

  • Take bus line 450** to Brunico/Bruneck railway station.
  • Change to the train to Villabassa/Niederdorf **. From there, it is a 4 minute-walk to the bus stop “Von-Kurz-Platz”.
  • Continue your journey with line 442 * to Pragser Wildsee lake - required to book an pay online in advance

BUS + TRAIN + SHUTTLE SERVICE from 10/07 - 10/09/2019

  • Take bus line 450** to Brunico/Bruneck railway station.
  • Continue by train ** to Monguelfo/Welsberg.
  • Continue with the shuttle service 439*** Monguelfo – Pragser Wildsee lake - required to book an pay online in advance

GETTING HERE WITH YOUR OWN CAR

State road AHRNTAL VALLEY (SS624) – BRUNICO (SS49-E66) – MONGUELFO – BRAIES (SP47)   

Please factor in problems such as waiting times/traffic jams if deciding to arrive with your own car!

The road towards the Pragser Tal valley is only open to cars while there is space left in the valley car parks.

 

ATTENTION: Parking in Braies is limited!

The following two options are open to visitors starting from the pay & display car park near Ferrara: 

  • Hiking from Ferrara to Pragser Wildsee lake (hiking trail no. 1, duration approx. 1 ½ hours) 
  • Continue your journey from the Park & Ride car park with line 442* or the Monguelfo – Pragser Wildsee lake
    shuttle service ***
     

Exceptions to road closings: permits (vouchers) for guests of corresponding accommodation providers (booking) and/or from restaurants (directly at the road barrier: table reservations with down payment possible)

*Take bus 442, route: Dobbiaco (bus station) – Villabassa – Pragser Wildsee lake

  • Guest Card holders e.g., HolidayPass pay just €3 per person per journey from 10/07 to 10/09/2020.
  • Children aged 6 and younger ride the bus for free.
  • Holders of single tickets, value cards, Mobilcards, bike mobilcards and museumobil Cards, Südtirol Südtirol Pass, EuregioFamilyPass Südtirol, Südtirol Pass abo+, Südtirol Pass 65+ and Südtirol Pass free may use the bus at normal price.
  • Four-legged friends may use the bus at normal price (according to regulation no. 760/2016, article 23).


**TRAIN and all bus line services (except bus line service 442 from 10/07 to 10/09/2020)

  • Children aged 6 and younger ride the bus for free.
