in Campo Tures
A wonderfully relaxing 18 km (11 mile) bicycle path on the flat valley floor leads through meadows and pastures from Campo Tures-Sand in Taufers to Brunico-Bruneck. The majestic three thousand meter (ten thousand foot) peaks at your back pull the gaze forward into the wide opening valley where Brunico offers a rewarding destination. The bicycle path network continues: to the west via S. Lorenzo-St. Lorenzen and Rio Molino-Mühlbach to Fortezza-Franzensfeste, where it connects with the Valle Isarco-Eisacktal bike path, and to the east with a further ascent via Valdaora-Olang and Dobbiaco-Toblach to San Candido-Innichen and, for “cross-border bicyclists”, into Austria as far as Lienz. Also to be recommended is the combination of a return by train or bus and the economically priced Bikemobil Card.
More of the 80 three thousand meter (ten thousand foot) peaks of the Valli di Tures and Aurina-Tauferer Ahrntal can be experienced by those who head north from Campo Tures. With the exception of a few short but steep sections to Campo Tures and to Lutago-Luttach, the ride goes through delightful landscape with a gentle zig-zag as far as Cadipietra-Steinhaus. The trail is in part designated as a bike path, and in part it leads over an unpaved but very passable underlayer (trekking tires are recommended). Bicycles may be rented in Campo Tures, Lutago, and Cadipietra.
