Our nature-loving dale extends into a charming side valley of the Pustertal valley, to the east of Bruneck/Brunico and all the way up to the mountain pass called Staller Saddle at the Austrian border. 6 towns offer the ideal starting point for activities in one of the most unspoilt vales in South Tyrol. Exactly 70 years after Cortina and 20 years after Turin, the world's largest winter sports event will once again take place in Italy. The candidature of Milan and Cortina won the bid for the Olympic Winter Games 2026.
Antholz will host the Biathlon competitions. Thus, for the first time in sports history, Olympic medals will be won on South Tyrolean soil.
The 25th Olympic Winter Games will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026, the Paralympics from 6 to 15 March 2026, although these competitions will not be held in Antholz.

to the offerGet on board and lean back. Thanks to excellent train connections from Germany, Austria & Switzerland, travelling by train is a stress-free and environmentally friendly alternative to the car.
► From Germany or Austria: The national railway companies of Germany and Austria, DB & ÖBB, run daily from Munich to Bolzano/Bozen (with stops at Brenner/Brennero, Franzensfeste/Fortezza and Brixen/Bressanone). To reach the Antholzertal valley, you have to change in Franzensfeste to the connection to the Pustertal valley. The nearest train station is in Olang/Valdaora. The South Tyrol connecting ticket additionally entitles you to use all public transport to reach the train station on the day of your arrival/departure.
► From Switzerland: The Railjet Express & Eurocity runs several times a day via Innsbruck and the Brenner/Brennero to South Tyrol. In Franzensfeste/Fortezza you have to change to the local railway of the Pustertal valley to reach Olang/Valdaora. From here you can take the bus to reach the Antholzertal valley.

To reach your accommodation, you can also take the South Tyrol shuttle services “Südtirol Transfer” and “Book your Shuttle”. Some accommodation facilities also offer their own shuttle service.
The bus offers another convenient alternative to travelling by car. Thanks to Flixbus and others, there are also plenty of travel options via Munich and Innsbruck. With these connections you can reach the train & bus stations of Bolzano/Bozen, Meran/Merano, Mals/Malles, Brixen/Bressanone, Bruneck/Brunico and Innichen/San Candido as well as the long-distance bus stops in Bolzano, Klausen/Chiusa, Vahrn/Varna, Sterzing/Vipiteno and Meran/Merano.
You can reach your accommodation by travelling with the South Tyrol shuttle services “Südtirol Transfer” and “Book your Shuttle”. Some accommodation facilities also offer their own shuttle service to pick up their guests from the nearest train or bus station.
The following routes will take you to the Antholzertal valley by car:
► via Innsbruck and Brenner/Brennero: Take the toll motorway A22 Brennerautobahn/Autostrada del Brennero. Leave the motorway at the exit “Brixen/Pustertal – Bressanone/Val Pusteria” and take the state road SS49-E66 to the Pustertal valley.
► via Lienz, East Tyrol (A): Pass the Austrian-Italian border at Ahrnbach/Winnebach on the state road B100-E66 and subsequently take state road SS49-E66 to the Pustertal valley.
Please note
- Winter tyres and snow chains are mandatory from November 15 to April 15.
- In Italy it is mandatory to be equipped with safety vests and to drive with lights on.
South Tyrol can also be reached by plane! In fact, we also have a small but excellent airport in Bolzano/Bozen, which is served three times a week by SkyAlps flights from Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Zurich and London You can also fly to the following airports (listing with information on the distance to and from Bruneck/Brunico):

Once you have landed, you can continue your journey to South Tyrol with the train connections of Trenitalia, Italo, DB or ÖBB. It is also possible to take an airport shuttle of “Book your Shuttle” or “Südtirol Bus”. The service is currently offered for the airports of Innsbruck, Munich, Verona and Bergamo (remember to book the ride at least 48 hours before departure).
