Bike route Valli di Tures e Aurina-Tauferer Ahrntal

The “Ahrtour” bike route runs through the entire Valli di Tures Aurina - Tauferer Ahrntal and promises an adventurous trip through nature itself. From the start in Brunico - Bruneck until Campo Tures - Sand in Taufers, the Ahrtour is a fairly flat and easy ride. The section from Campo Tures - Sand in Taufers to San Pietro - St. Peter is on the other hand much more demanding. This bike tour is an adventure for athletes and amateur bikers alike and of course it can also be enjoyed in individual sections.

The „Ahrtour“ bike route can be started either at the beginning of the valley or in San Pietro - St. Peter. Nonexperienced bikers are advised to plan their trip heading out of the valley. Our route description through the Valli di Tures Aurina - Tauferer Ahrntal valley begins in Brunico - Bruneck and takes you to San Pietro. An ideal starting point for the bikeroute is the bus station in Brunico - Bruneck. There are plenty of car parking spaces available there. From this spot you follow the signs on the main road leading towards Valle Aurina - Ahrntal/Campo Tures - Sand in Taufers. The biking path starts just outside of the center and it runs parallel to the main road taking you to the residential area of S. Giorgio - St. Georgen. After a short ascent on the paved road on the right side of the river and through the fields, you will reach the village of Gais. Passing the children’s playground in the center, the bike route passes by the craftsmen’s zone and then through fields and meadows into the village of Villa Ottone - Uttenheim. From there you take the paved road through the fields to Caminata - Kematen. From Caminata - Kematen there are various possibilities to reach Campo Tures - Sand in Taufers. The best way is on the right side of the river towards Cantuccio - Bad Winkl and the hamlet of Winkl heading towards S. Maurizio - St. Moritzen. On the right mountain-side at the end of the village, you will see the Castle Taufers (up to this point you can use trekking or city-bikes). At the end of the village before reaching the castle, cross the street and follow the path on the left side of the river. Soon the first short climb begins. The path leads towards the Speikboden ski area but just before you reach the lifts, you cross the street and follow the path with the river now on your left. From here the route takes you along the river into the village of Lutago - Luttach. Pass the village and soon your next climb comes which takes you to the next plain. A small street takes you into S. Martino - St. Martin and from there back onto the main road. After a short distance you turn right into the village of San Giovanni - St. Johann. After the church the route goes over the bridge to Cadipietra - Steinhaus. From the Klausberg Lift Station the route takes you along the river heading into the valley until it gets you back onto the main street. After only a few hundred meters on the street, you will reach the nextturn off which takes you along the river into S. Pietro - St. Peter.
