Hike with view towards the Dolomites
The Val Casies Valley has exceptionally many beautiful alpine pastures; most of them offer refreshment opportunities. The Val Casies Valley Almweg 2000 path, as its name suggests, runs at an elevation of 2,000 metres- as is signposted. The pathway offers an expressive view of the entire Val Casies Valley.
From San Martino to Santa Maddalena along the Almweg 2000 path.

From the valley road at S. Martino/Val Casies (1276m) follow trail no. 36 in a westerly direction up to Karbacher Hof (1440m, refreshments available; also reachable by car) and from there follow the lonely Karbachtal valley along the babbling brook to the Schäfer Alm (1616m) and continue on the forest road with trail no. 52 to the right of the alpine hut; continue on the forest road in a south-easterly direction across the steep wooded slopes to a small alpine valley (approx. 1800m), then on trail no. 52 past some barns and along the Vigeiner Bergwiesen up to a small ridge depression (approx. 2100m), turn right for a short distance and reach the cross on Hörneckele (2127m).
The rewarding hike for those accustomed to walking is easy. - via Almweg 2000: from the Hörneckele along the Almweg 2000 (marked with a red dot) crossing the alpine slopes in a north-easterly direction, you reach the Pfinnalm (2152m), from there continue following trail marker no. 52 and at a fork in the path, leave the actual Almweg 2000 towards the valley, on a partly flat and partly very slightly downhill course you cross the slopes and reach the Ascht Alm (1950m, refreshments available), finally from there on trail no. 10 through the steep wooded slopes on a path and forest road down to Huiben and briefly on to the valley exit in the direction of St. Magdalena (1398m). Maddalena (1398m); from Hörneckele 5 km, 2 hrs. From S. Maddalena by bus or other means of transport back to S. Martino.
