From the paid parking lot above the Mudler mountain restaurant (1622 m, refreshments available) in Tesido, follow trail no. 38 A to the Taistner Alm (2012 m, refreshments available). From there, continue on trail no. 38 northeastwards across alpine pastures with a moderate incline up to the Klenkboden (2186 m). Still following trail no. 38, descend slightly almost to the Taistner Hinteralm (1955 m, no refreshments available). Shortly before that, climb to the Ochsenhütte (2124 m) and from there, via the southeast and south ridge, moderately to steeply up to the summit cross of the Amperspitze (2687 m).
Descent: along the same route. Alternatively, descend via the Ampertörl to the Samburg Alm and through the Karbachtal to S. Martino, from where you can take the bus back to Tesido.
Coming from Innsbruck/Brennero (A): Drive on the Highway of Brennero (A22) until the exit Bressanone/Val Pusteria, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 58kms until you arrive in Monguelfo. To get to Tesido, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.
Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Monguelfo. To get to Tesido, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.
