Geweih (Verlust)

Wilma Kammerer's art installation entitled “Verlust”, which means “loss”, invites its viewers to engage with the cycles of nature. The artist from the town called St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo di Sebato drew her inspiration from the recurring transformation process of the "king of the forest": every year, the deer sheds its antlers which lend it its majestic and graceful appearance. Then, over the course of the following four months, new antlers grow at the breakage above the frontal bone.

A natural cycle that Wilma Kammerer, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, defines as a dance in between strength, power and renewal as well as beauty and vulnerability. The antler-shaped sculpture, crafted from polished cast aluminium, blends into a unique stage amidst the flora and fauna of the Kronplatz. A natural stage on which it turns into a tactile experience and merges harmoniously with the surrounding ecosystem.
