Six white forms take shape, faintly, across the alpine meadow on Kronplatz. A head, hands, feet and a torso – as though someone had paused for a moment and gently lain down. It feels as if the earth itself has begun telling the story of a body drifting across its surface.
With “Der Berg als Meer", Olang-based artist Natan Mutschlechner, whose work explores questions of identity and cultural coexistence, has created an artwork that does not reveal itself at first glance but gradually unfolds as you move through the landscape. From one viewpoint, the individual elements appear scattered and disconnected; from another, they coalesce into a single reclining figure. Perception becomes movement, and seeing becomes an active experience. The installation combines visual suggestion with physical engagement, inviting visitors to walk among the forms, touch them and experience them for themselves. It is a work that exists in constant dialogue with its surroundings, and whose appearance is continually reshaped by wind, light, vegetation and the changing seasons. It reminds us how fragmented our view of the world can be. Only with time, attention and the willingness to change our perspective does the full picture emerge. In “Meer aus Erde”, art becomes a playful space in which reflection and physical experience merge into one.
