Towering at the top of Mount Kronplatz surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Dolomites, Valdaora-Olang, Brunico-Bruneck and the Badia valley, the MMM Corones is the final gemstone of mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner's museum series. Dedicated to the great walls of the world, the museum at 2275 m above sea-level embodies the most prestigious discipline in mountaineering and offers a unique glimpse of the lives of mountaineers and climbers. The collection is a singular treasure chest filled with objects, images and tools from Reinhold Messner's life as a mountaineer who knows no boundaries.
The sixth and last Messner Mountain Museum was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, whose pioneering founder is among the most talented and innovative architects of our time.
Man’s fascination with mountains has been unbroken as long as anyone can remember.
LUMEN gives this fascination a photographic home: located at the summit of the region Kronplatz (in South Tyrol), 1,800 square metres are dedicated to mountain photography.
Spanning four floors LUMEN offers the possibility to experience the history of mountain photography from its beginnings until the present as well as displaying the art of mountain-photographers from all over the world.
